What My Tattoo Represents ⚔️❤️

People often ask me what my tattoo means.

It isn't just ink. It is my story, my ancestry, my parents, my faith, and my relationship with my Creator. It represents every lesson I have learned, every battle I have survived, every tear I have cried, and every prayer that carried me through. It is the woman I have fought to become, and the woman I continue becoming every single day.

When I look at my tattoo, I don't just see a warrior. I see a Warrioress. I see the daughter my mother and father created. I see generations of resilience flowing through my veins. I see sacrifice, perseverance, courage, and love. I see a reminder that I did not arrive here by accident. I was shaped by those who came before me, by the experiences that refined me, and by a Creator who never stopped pursuing me, even when I wandered.

My mother gave me stories of New Mexico, my Nana, and generations before them. Through my maternal family, my roots trace to the Mescalero Reservation and Pueblo Isleta, with family history that also includes Apache and Yaqui ancestry. Whether through documented records or family stories lovingly passed down, those roots remind me that I come from people who endured unimaginable hardships, adapted, survived, and continued forward with dignity. Their resilience lives in me.

My father came from Puerto Rico, a handsome rebel with a fearless spirit and a heart that refused to quit. He taught me determination, grit, and the courage to stand back up every time life knocked me down. When I think about him, I think about strength that refuses to surrender and a spirit that could never be contained.

My tattoo represents them both. It reminds me that I am the living expression of their love, their sacrifices, their struggles, and their strength. I didn't inherit a victim's spirit. I inherited a Warrioress spirit. Not a spirit that seeks conflict, but one that refuses to surrender when life becomes difficult.

To me, a true warrior has never been someone who loves battle. A true warrior protects what is sacred. Throughout history, warriors defended their families, stood beside the vulnerable, cared for those who could not protect themselves, and willingly sacrificed for something greater than themselves. They embodied courage, discipline, integrity, humility, compassion, and above all, loyalty. That kind of loyalty has always spoken to my heart because loyalty is love in action.

Every single day I fight battles that most people will never see. I fight to grow my businesses. I fight to remain financially independent. I fight to protect my family. I fight to stay emotionally healthy and spiritually grounded. But the greatest battle I have ever fought has never been with another person. It has always been within myself.

Recovery has taught me that my greatest enemy is fear, self delusion, old wounds, anxiety, pride, unhealthy habits, and the false beliefs that try to convince me I am not enough. Those are the battles that once kept me sick. Today, with God's help, I choose to face them instead of running from them. Every day I choose healing over bitterness, truth over denial, humility over pride, and faith over fear.

As a woman, another part of this tattoo represents something deeply personal to me. I believe women deserve the same dignity, respect, opportunity, and voice as men because our Creator created every human being with equal value and purpose. To me, feminism is not about superiority. It is about equality. It is about believing women should never have to shrink themselves, silence themselves, or abandon themselves to be accepted. I don't fight against men. I fight against injustice, abuse, addiction, oppression, shame, and every lie that tells women they are less than who God created them to be.

If my daughters and granddaughters learn anything from watching my life, I hope they learn to know their worth before asking the world to define it for them. I hope they become financially independent, emotionally healthy, spiritually grounded, and courageous enough to choose peace over chaos. I hope they understand that strength and kindness can exist together, and that healing themselves is one of the greatest gifts they can give future generations.

Most people believe warriors love battle. I don't believe that at all. I believe the greatest desire of every true Warrioress is peace. Peace in her heart. Peace in her home. Peace in her family. Peace with God. Sometimes peace must be protected, and that protection requires courage, wisdom, discipline, and unwavering faith.

My relationship with my Creator is the deepest meaning behind this tattoo. Long before I believed in myself, God believed in me. Long before I found recovery, He was already making a way. Long before I understood my purpose, He had already written it. Every ounce of strength I have is because He continues to carry me when I cannot carry myself.

"I can do all things through God who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

That verse reminds me that my strength has never truly been my own. Everything good in me comes from the God who created me, loves me, forgives me, and continues to shape me into the woman I was always meant to become.

My tattoo is more than art. It is a covenant with myself and a reminder that every day I have a choice. I can choose courage over fear, healing over bitterness, faith over doubt, peace over chaos, and love over resentment. I can honor my parents, my ancestors, my Creator, and every woman who will one day walk behind me by living a life of integrity, service, and hope.

That is what my tattoo represents.
