โจ WHAT ARE YOU GOING BACK FOR? โจ
What are you going back for?
The pain of missing them felt easier than the discipline of choosing yourself.
I understand.
๐ Missing someone can feel unbearable.
๐ญ The memories.
๐ The loneliness.
๐ The hope that maybe this time will be different.
But before you go back, ask yourself honestly:
โ What are you going back for?
If these things were missing before...
• ๐๏ธ Peace
• ๐ค Respect
• ๐
Consistency
• ๐งพ Accountability
• ๐ Trust
• โค๏ธ Emotional Safety
Then what exactly are you returning to?
Because sometimes we aren't missing the person.
We're missing:
• ๐ญ The fantasy
• ๐ฑ The potential
• โจ Who we hoped they would become
• ๐ฅ The version of the relationship that existed in our minds more than it ever existed in reality
And that's a hard truth to sit with.
Not because we don't care.
Not because we're cold.
Not because we think we're better than anyone.
But because we finally care enough about ourselves to stop volunteering for the same wound.
๐ก Healing teaches us that love should not require self-abandonment.
Love should not require us to:
• Silence our needs
• Shrink ourselves
• Betray our values
• Lower our standards
• Repeatedly accept behavior that breaks our spirit
If every time you loved them, you lost yourself...
If every time you opened the door, you reopened the wound...
If every time they returned, the cycle repeated...
Then maybe the lesson isn't to try harder.
Maybe the lesson is to choose differently.
๐ Maybe the door is not closed to punish you.
๐ก๏ธ Maybe the door is closed to protect you.
โจ Maybe God removed what you keep trying to resurrect.
๐๏ธ Maybe your peace is on the other side of the goodbye you're afraid to honor.
And maybe the strongest thing you can do right now is not return to what broke you simply because it started calling your name again.
๐ฑ Sometimes growth looks like walking away.
โค๏ธ Sometimes self-love looks like saying no.
๐ธ Sometimes healing looks like grieving what you wished it could have been and accepting what it actually was.
And sometimes choosing yourself is the most loving thing you'll ever do.
Choose you.
โจ Again.
โจ And again.
โจ And again.
Until it no longer feels like discipline.
Until it feels like home. โค๏ธ
