🌸✨ SURRENDER, SOBRIETY & THE TRUTH ABOUT FEELINGS ✨🌸

"Surrender becomes easier when you realize the fleeting nature of all experiences."
— Eckhart Tolle

When I first read this quote, I immediately thought about recovery. πŸ™

One of the greatest lies alcoholism ever told me was that whatever I was feeling in the moment would last forever.

πŸ˜” If I was sad, it felt like I would always be sad.

😑 If I was angry, it felt like I would always be angry.

😰 If I was afraid, it felt like I would always be afraid.

πŸ’” If I was hurting, it felt like I would always hurt.

And because those feelings felt permanent, I looked for ways to escape them.

Recovery has taught me something very different.

✨ Feelings are temporary.

They come.

They stay for a while.

Then they pass.

Just like waves in the ocean. 🌊

🌸 EMOTIONALLY

Recovery teaches us that we do not have to react to every feeling we experience.

Instead, we can:

• πŸ“ Journal through it

• πŸ™ Pray through it

• πŸ’¬ Talk about it with trusted people

• 😭 Cry when we need to

• 🧘 Sit quietly with it

• ❀️ Allow feelings to move through us instead of running from them

The sadness passes.

The resentment passes.

The anxiety passes.

The loneliness passes.

Even the deepest grief eventually softens. 🌿

🌸 SPIRITUALLY

Surrender becomes easier when we stop fighting reality.

So much of our suffering comes from wanting life, people, and circumstances to be different than they are.

Spiritual growth teaches us acceptance.

It teaches us to trust God even when we do not understand.

It teaches us to loosen our grip and remember:

• πŸ™Œ God is in control

• 🌸 We are not

• ✨ We can trust the process

• ⏳ We can trust His timing

• πŸ’› This season will not last forever

Sometimes peace arrives the moment we stop resisting what already is. πŸ™

🌸 PHYSICALLY

This truth applies to cravings too.

Anyone who has stayed sober long enough knows that urges rise and fall.

A craving can feel overwhelming in the moment.

But if we don't feed it, it eventually passes.

Just like every other feeling.

When cravings come:

• πŸ“ž Call someone

• 🏠 Go to a meeting

• πŸ™ Pray

• πŸ’― Get honest

• 🚢 Take a walk

• 🀝 Help another alcoholic

• πŸŒ… Remember why you got sober

Most cravings do not last nearly as long as we think they will.

🌸 THE BEAUTY OF SURRENDER

The longer I stay sober, the more I realize that surrender is not giving up.

✨ Surrender is letting go.

Letting go of control.

Letting go of outcomes.

Letting go of the need to escape every uncomfortable feeling.

Because everything changes.

Everything moves.

Everything passes.

🌊 This feeling will pass.

🌊 This fear will pass.

🌊 This craving will pass.

🌊 This heartbreak will pass.

🌊 This season will pass.

And if we stay close to God, connected to our recovery, and willing to walk through life one day at a time, we will pass through it too. ❀️

πŸ™ One prayer.

πŸ™ One surrender.

πŸ™ One day.

πŸ™ One sober moment at a time.
